Origin SUSTAIN is urea treated with NBPT technology, designed to minimise N losses from ammonia volatilisation. It is a urease inhibitor designed to protect yield, achieve quality and save money. It is available as a straight N and in a range of NS and NK grades.

What is SUSTAIN powered by NBPT?

NBPT is the premier urease inhibitor proven to reduce ammonia and nitrous oxide emissions across the UK and Ireland. It was the the urease inhibitor in DEFRA's NT26 trials. 

How does it protect the nitrogen?

It holds the nitrogen in the ammonium form for longer.

How is it different to other urease inhibitors?

NBPT has been on the market for 25+ years and delivers consistent results year after year to growers around the world. It stands above the rest as the original most research proven urease inhibitor in the UK, Ireland and the world. 

Does it reduce emissions? 

  • Reduces ammonia losses by 78.5% compared to urea - source TEAGASC

In 41 independent UK and Ireland yield trials, SUSTAIN gave performance equal to or better than nitrates.

Can SUSTAIN increase nitrogen use efficiency?

SUSTAIN increased apparent fertiliser recovery in spring barley by 9% compared to nitrates, source TEAGASC. 

Is NBPT used elsewhere in the world?

It is used in many countries on millions of hectares.

Is SUSTAIN stable in the bag and on the soil?

SUSTAIN is stable in the bag for 12 months, and consistently meets and exceeds the minimum active ingredient levels specified by EC fertiliser regulation.

Are there specific restrictions for storing on farm?

No, SUSTAIN does not have the same transport or storage restrictions as AN.

What environmental impact does SUSTAIN have on the soil?

SUSTAIN has no negative impact on the soil.
